Aduana sure of Raja victory
Currently perched at the bottom of the Group A table, Ghana’s Aduana Stars are optimistic their position will change as they aim to win against Raja Casablanca in the second game of their CAF Confederation Cup group stage campaign today.
At the Nana Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa this afternoon, Aduana will hope to revive their campaign after the faulty 0-1 loss start against ASEC Mimosas in Abidjan two weeks ago, and a confident coach, Yussif Abubakar, believes they will win against Morocco’s Raja Casablanca to get back into the fray.
The loss in Abidjan has left Aduana with no point, while Raja, was held to a goalless draw game by visiting AS VITA of Congo in Casablanca, have a point in the group currently led by the Ivorian side.
Depending on what happens in the AS Vita versus ASEC game, a win for Aduana will still give them hope, something the Ghana Premier League champions are keen on having.“We know the stakes in this game and we are ready for the challenge. We are undaunted by the class, pedigree or history of Raja Casablanca. Don’t forget we all dropped from the Champions League, so really there is nothing to be scared of.
“Rather, we will draw inspiration from what our brothers Berekum Chelsea did to them some six years ago, when they walloped them 5-0 at Berekum in their Champions League clash. Our aim in this campaign is to score more goals, so that if there is a tie and a decision has to be made based on goals, we will be ahead,” Coach Abubakar told the Graphic Sports yesterday.
“We have corrected our mistakes from the ASEC game. The good thing is we are able to create chances and we have worked on converting those chances. I have just advised the boys to remain focus and maintain their composure, particularly when presented with scoring chances so as to get the win and the result we all desire.”
Though he will not say if there will be changes to the starting line up against ASEC, Coach Abubakar says whoever gets to start will be ready for the game and carry out the mission, and is predicting a fast, high pressing game, as he reckons Raja will play the typical North African style, but they will counter their moves and ensure they take charge of the game right from the start.
