Hearts of Oak to build new head office

As a result, the board is considering pulling down the old structure to pave way for the redevelopment of the secretariat, according to board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV.

Before the project commences, management of the club are hoping to complete the Pobiman project on time to move the current staff there for work to commence.

Togbe Afede said the direction the current board wants to move the club required that they have a befitting edifice that would not only bring in revenue but also enhance the image of the club.

“The development of Pobiman is an integral part of our strategy to build infrastructure that will support our vision. And we’d expected Pobiman to be completed before the end of last year but for COVID-19 disruptions.

“We’d thought from the very onset that once Pobiman was built we’ll not need all the staff we have now at the secretariat because most of the club activities will be centered at Pobiman. That is why we had thought that once the structures are completed secretariat staff would move to Pobiman.

“Where we are now (secretariat) we are seated on very prime land. Land from which the club can derive more benefit than it’s taking today. So, part of the plans for building Pobiman is to be able to send most of the secretariat staff to Pobiman and we intend now to do that as soon as possible to pave way for the redevelopment of our head office building.

“The whole idea is that the club can derive, not only income from that, but also image development, a secretariat befitting the status of Accra Hearts of Oak and that’s what we want”, he said
