We were determined to appease Ghanaians — Isaac Twum

The captain of the Black Stars B, Isaac Twum, says Ghana’s failure to make it to the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) served as a morale-booster for the team’s success at the just-ended WAFU Cup of Nations hosted in Cape Coast.

Twum told the Graphic Sports after last Sunday’s masive 4-1 victory over Nigeria in the final that though regrettable, the team wanted to compensate for the CHAN and appease Ghanaians with the WAFU trophy, hence giving their all to clinch the ultimate.

“It is unfortunate we could not qualify for the CHAN but football is full of uncertainties; so myself and my teammates felt once we could not make it to the CHAN, then we must do whatever it takes to win the WAFU trophy for the country. That was our motivation,” he revealed.

Twum, who was adjudged the best player of the tournament, described the WAFU tournament as a good competition but assured the Black Stars B would go places, given the opportunity.

Touching on his future as the most valuable player of the WAFU tournament, the Inter Allies midfielder said he would remain focused and work harder to improve upon his current form.

Responding to a question if there had been any overtures from other clubs, considering his outstanding performance at the WAFU Cup of Nations, Twum said he would have to consult the management of Inter Allies Football Club to know what was at stake.

“You know currently I am an Inter Allies player and so I may not be privy to any such offers. I am yet to meet with the club management to know if there has been any offers” he explained.
