Essien’s Injury Woes Over — Mourinho
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho says Michael Essien’s injury woes are over and the midfielder is ready for the physical rigours of the Spanish top-flight after fears over his fitness after two serious knee injuries. Essien has not regained his full fitness since recovering from those injuries which prompted Chelsea to send him out on loan to Real Madrid two weeks ago.

After training with the club over the past two weeks, Mourinho says Essien has overcome the fears over his fitness. “Essien has come with a huge motivation, with the energy of seven years without physical discomfort,” Mourinho told the press. “Michael has been very nice, I appreciate the gesture.
“Michael has been nice today saying that the most important miss of Real Madrid would be mine, but we are all equal.”
The Ghana international, who is yet to make his Real Madrid debut since joining the Spanish giants on a season loan, could make Mourinho’s team for tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Manchester City. Meanwhile, Mourinho has lamented the poor form of his team at the start of the La Liga as they suffered yet another defeat last Saturday.
