Bekoe out to prove a point

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko forward, Eric Bekoe, says he is open to a move back into the Ghana Premier League following the expiration of his contract with Egyptian outfit, Kafr Elsheikh SC.Bekoe, who once took Ghana football by storm after winning the top scorer and best player awards with Kotoko in the 2007-2008 season, has welcomed offers from any of the top clubs in the country, provided they are good enough.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports yesterday, the 30-year-old striker said he was ready to prove his worth and complete an unfinished business on the local scene when given the chance by any club that could meet his demands.

"I know who I am and what I can do when given the chance to prove myself," Bekoe said.

Bekoe's revelation might put the two greatest clubs in the country, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, on alert, especially when the Porcupine Warriors are keen on strengthening their team ahead of next year's CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Aduana Stars, on the other hand, could make a move for the prolific striker whose career has been blighted by injuries after a promising start.

It could, however, end up as a straight fight among the three top clubs, though an outsider like newly promoted Karela United can also cause a surprise.

When asked whether he had been contacted by any club over a possible move, Bekoe intimated that he was in discussions with clubs abroad but no deal had yet been reached.

He, however, refused to disclose the clubs involved, while considering the local options as well towards reaching a good deal.
