Tagoe, 30, who has fought 28 times with a loss, said he had come far in his chsoen career and this was the time to carve a niche for himself in the sport.

The bout, dubbed “Defend to Conquer”, has two undercards for the time being. Prince Djanie would clash with Odoi Laryea in the Bantamweight division while Nigerian Olanrewaju Durodola will face off with Burkinabe Boniface Kabore on the night.

At a media briefing ahead of his September 2 fight, Tagoe confidently promised to stop his opponent in the sixth round, stressing that “I am not bragging but Mendez is no match for me”.

The media interaction was attended by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BabyJet Promotions, Samuel Anim Addo, and Baffour Gyan, brother of Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan.

Mr Anim Addo explained the essence of the bout and said the fight would pave way for the Ghanaian to unfiy other notable titles in his division.

He added that a special meet-the-fans promotion would soon be organised at the West Hills and Junction malls at Bortianor and Nungua respectively for the boxer to fraternise with supporters.
