Taekwondo: Ghana to host team cup championship

Ghana has been handed the opportunity to host the Taekwondo team cup championship at the Accra Sports stadium in March 23, 2013.

The 16 teams competition would attract athletes from the sub-region including Togo, Nigeria, Benin, and Cote d’Ivoire for this competition with seasoned international referees, some of which are from the sub-region have been invited to assist.

Ghana was given the nod after the president of the local Taekwondo association president, Federick Out Lartey officiated in the first match of the event in Madagascar last year.

When it officially commenced it would also be an opportunity for practitioners and officials in Ghana and around West Africa to have a first time feel of the new form as a two day seminar for officiating officials on the rules of the game would be organised by Frederick O lartey.

The Ghana Taekwondo Association would also take the opportunity to outdoor the newly acquired state of the art electronic scoring system.

This event promises to be very competitive and deserving teams would be awarded trophies, medals and certificates.
