• Ambassador Ray Quarcoo (middle), with some of the kid boxersThe president of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF), Ambassador Ray Quarcoo has presented boxing equipment and cash to the Street Boxing Academy at the General Post Office in Accra.

The items included five pairs of boxing gloves and two pairs of head gears.

According to him the gesture forms, part of many things his outfit and the Ministry of Youth and Sports intend to roll out for the sport.

He disclosed  that the GABF’s scouting team had identified potential young boxers who engaged in exhibition fights every Sunday afternoon in the area, but fought in worn out kit.

He described the donation as his widow’s mite, but promised to regularly support them .

“This is just a token, I was only informed  a few days a go, so I decided to pass through to assess the real situation on the ground.

My outfit together with the Sports Ministry will ensure that these young talents do not only remain on the streets but will combine boxing with their schooling”, he added.
