Oluwaseun: I want tougher challenges outside Ghana

Ghanaian super featherweight champion "Sensational" Wahab Joseph Oluwaseun says he is ready for a world title shot after stopping tough-talking British boxer John "Hitman" Hicks in round three last Saturday night at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

According to Oluwaseun, who thrilled the predominantly expatriate crowd in the exhibition bout, his latest victory on the Azumah Nelson Fight Night IV bill was a testament to his superior boxing skills.

"I have done it all locally, I have been victorious in all my fights promoted by the Azumah Nelson Fight Night," Oluwaseun told the Graphic Sports after abruptly stopping the Briton in their international super-featherweight contest.

"I believe I am now ready to test myself against the best boxers in this division, I am ready for a world title shot," he said.

Oluwaseun also discounted the perception that his bout against Hicks, a semi-professional boxer, was a mismatch.

"There are no easy fights in boxing, it only looks easy when you get in the ring and produce the results like I did".

Oluwaseun's victory over Hicks followed Raphael King’s six-round demolition of Anthony Ayinde, a British semi-professional boxer of Nigerian descent. The judges scored handed Ayinde a 57-56, 58-56 and 56-57 victory via a split decision.

All eyes were on promising Ghanaian, Azumah Nelson Junior, and he lived up to the hype with an impressive display which earned him a split decision over hard-hitting Prosper Dzivor, while Nii Ofei Dodoo defeated Mohammed Ali via a split decision in an amateur lightweight contest.

Wasiru Mohammed defeated Felix Okine by unanimous decision in their six-round bantamweight contest while Jerry Lartey earned a split decision victory over Philip Quartey.
