Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto retained his World Boxing Council middleweight world title with a fourth-round victory over Daniel Geale.

He knocked down the Australian twice in the fourth round before referee Harvey Dock stopped the bout in New York.

The 34-year-old Cotto dominated from the start on Saturday, despite not fighting for 364 days since claiming the belt by beating Sergio Martinez.
Former world champion Geale, 34, has now lost three of his last five fights.
Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) was much quicker throughout than Geale, who had struggled to make the agreed 157lb limit for Friday's weigh-in and seemed drained as a result.
A ferocious left hook put Geale on the canvas early in the fourth and Cotto followed up with a series of body shots before a right to the head floored the Aussie for a second time.
Geale got up but was obviously unable to continue and Dock saved him from further punishment.
Cotto is now focusing on a big-money fight with Mexico's Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, possibly later this year.
"Let's do it," he said. "Before that, I want to spend some time with my family and enjoy them again, but then it is back to LA and training for Canelo."
