Dogboe assures Juarez of fair officiating

Paul Dogboe, the father and trainer of undefeated Isaac Dogboe, has assured Caesar Juarez’s camp of fair officiating when they fight for the WBO Interim Super Bantamweight title in Accra on January 6.

Paul maintained that it would be in the interest of his Rising Star Africa Promotions to ensure a clean fight without controversy.

Coach Dogboe, who was responding to Team Juarez ahead of the big fight which is barely a month away, after the Mexican’s manager, Sean Gibbons, was quoted by ESPN as having expressed concern about judging other than the fight itself since their fighter would be travelling to a country they had never been to before.

Gibbons said his fighter was more determined than Dogboe and, having gone under much stress than Dogboe, there was no way the Ghanaian could defeat him.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports from their London base, Paul said: “They have no need to be concerned with judging because I can assure them of fair officiating during the fight”.

“It will certainly be a good clean fight without any controversy and that I can assure them when they arrive,” he added.

Dogboe (17-0, 11KOs) will have the chance to become a world champion should he defeat Juarez (20-5, 18KOs) in a much-anticipated bout, dubbed: “Battle of the Gold Coast”.

The 23-year-old Ghanaian has promised to stop Juarez, while his opponent is keen on taking his second chance at a world title shot, having lost to Nonito Donaire for the vacant WBO Super Bantamweight title in 2015.
