Bukom Banku silenced at last!
Braimah Kamoko last Saturday tasted his first ever defeat as a professional boxer, and it took a merciless beating handed him by Bastie Samir who not only knocked him down thrice en route to a seventh-round technical knockout (TKO) victory but also silenced loud-mouthed Kamoko for good.

So vintage was Samir’s victory that it stripped the hard-hitting puncher of all his terror that left Kamoko (alias Bukom Banku). His cornermen and thousands of fans were stunned as referee Fred Ghartey came to the boxer’s rescue late into the seventh round to save him from further beating. He wobbled after being floored the second time in the bout, leaving the referee with no other option than to end the fight. The referee stopped the fight a minute earlier to enable the ringside doctor to examine a cut above the boxer’s eye after being battered by his opponent.
Fighting like his moniker “The Beast”, Samir ended veteran Kamoko’s dominance in the ring 1 his 30th fight as the younger boxer improved his record to 15 wins and a draw in 16 fights. After pulling off one of the most astonishing upsets in recent years, Samir told the Graphic Sports that he had finally silenced his opponent and was ready to beat him again on any day and anywhere.
"I knew I would silence him and I did exactly that but I am ready to give him a rematch which will be easy for me," an ecstatic Samir, who moved up weight from his preferred super middleweight class to the cruiserweight division.
A well composed and disciplined Bastie got the better of his tough-talking opponent whom he floored in the third and twice got the referee to intervene in seventh round to for a well-deserved victory.
The veteran Kamoko looked to have lost steam in the seventh round after failing to make true his promise to end the fight in round six. He opened fire on his opponent in the seventh round and allowed him little breathing space, with effective combination of punches until the referee stopped the fight.
The fight began with Kamoko dominating the exchanges by throwing more punches in the first two rounds as his huge support base cheered him on.
However, the bout turned on its head in the third round as Samir took charge and begun to hurt his opponent. He landed a solid right hook that sent Bukom Banku to the ropes but he beat the count.
With a round six knockout in Kamoko’s mind, Samir proved too strong for his opponent to allow his opponent carry through his prediction and he looked stronger in the closing stages of the round.
However, Kamoko started trading punches with his opponent who used his guard effectively to block some heavy punches from the veteran. And midway into the round, Samir cut the ring to size and pummelled Kamoko with solid shots to his head which dazed him, deepening the laceration above his right eyelid. It compelled referee Ghartey to halt the fight and invite the ringside doctor to examine the cut. However, Samir again caught Kamoko with a stiff hook which sent him crashing to the canvas, and after the referee administered the mandatory eight count, the veteran still looked dazed and wobbled forward when the referee beckoned him. It was then crystal clear he could no longer continue as Ghartey ended the bout to end Kamoko’s dominance in the ring and open a new chapter in Samir’s career.
Apart from earning a share of the GH¢200,000 purse, Samir will get an additional GH¢5,000 promised by the Chief Executive of the AMA, Mohammed Adjei Sowah.
