Kuyon, who won silver at the World Children Taekwondo Festival in Seoul, South Korea, last year, is hoping for another milestone in his promising career by scooping a medal at the Youth Olympics.

He was highly motivated by the award and felt privileged for being recognised by the entire sporting fraternity in the country.

“This is a great honour for me; I am very motivated by this award and I will work extra hard to qualify for the Youth Olympics,” Kuyon told the Daily Graphic in an exclusive interview in Accra last Thursday.

Kuyon, 15, said he had intensified his training ahead of the event and would stop at nothing at winning laurels for Ghana.

His trainer, Joe Banfro, was also optimistic about the prospects of his ward and gave an assurance that the sky would be the limit for the hard kicker.

“He is always serious with his training and is always on time; he trains hard and is very disciplined,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Kuyon’s manager and renowned international coach and referee, Master Norbert Amefu, has expressed gratitude to SWAG for honouring his charge.

Master Amefu told this paper he would ensure that his ward makes the nation proud by winning laurels in upcoming tournaments.
