Frimpong wins Papaye Homowo Marathon

Godwin AdukpoA 21-year-old graduate of Akim Oda Senior High School in the Eastern Region, Kwabena Frimpong, last Saturday won this year’s Papaye Homowo Marathon, finishing with a time of 58 minutes and two seconds.

In the 22.5km marathon which started from the Accra Mall to the Osu Mantse’s Palace, Akuka Williams placed second in one hour 11 seconds while former Accra Milo Marathon champion, Godwin Atsu Adukpo, was third in one hour 15 seconds.

Frimpong received GH¢500, a twin-tub washing machine and products from the sponsors, Papaye and Pens and Plastics.

Williams was rewarded with a refrigerator and GH¢300 while Godwin Adukpo got an LED Flat Screen television and GH¢200.

In the female category, veteran marathon runner and Accra Milo marathon champion, Millicent Boadi, was first followed by Elizabeth Bortsor and Gifty Abbey respectively.

Boadi also took home a twin-tub washing machine and GH¢250 while the runners up received consolation prizes.

Mr Divine Asiedu, CEO of Papaye, as well as the Osu Mantse and President of Osu Traditional Council, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, congratulated participants and called on the inhabitants of Osu to unite.
