Young sensation, Elizabeth Dadzie, now horning her skills to replace Margaret Simpson as the heptathlete queen, also put up a splendid performance to grab bronze in heptathlon with 5730 points.

Ghana’s first two medals —silver — came from Atsu Nyamadi and the female 4 x 100 relay team.

Nyamadi won in the men’s decathlon on the second day of the event.

Ranked third with 3895 points after the first day of the combined event, Atsu put up a strong performance on the final day, winning the javelin throw and discus throw events with 63.48m and 43.26m respectively.

The female relay team  made up of Flings Owusu-Agyapong, Gemima Acheampong, Beatrice Gyaman and Janet Amponsah, clocked a time of 44.05secs to place second behind South Africa enabled them win a second silver medal for Ghana.

In the 200m event last Saturday, Emmanuel Dasor clocked a time of ( 20.97) and Martin Owusu-Antwi (21.02) in the semi-finals but both sprinters did not advance to finals.
