Adukpo, Zigah to bounce back in Accra Milo Marathon

Godwin AdukpoFormer Accra Milo Marathon champions, Godwin Adukpo and David Zigah, are relishing a comeback  in grand style next year after being ruled out of this year’s competition due to diverse reasons.

The duo are hoping to take over the big stage to revive their dominance in the nation’s biggest marathon competition.

Zigah last won the competition in 2006 while Adukpo last won it three years ago.

In  separate interviews with the Graphic Sports after last Saturday’s marathon, the two former champions were disappointed about their inability to compete in this year’s race but were confident they could reclaim their waning popularity in the competition next year.

Injury ruled Zigah out of this year’s competition, while Adukpo was engaged in a refresher course organised by his employers, CEPS, after feverish  preparations for the competition.

“I trained very well for this competition and I knew I was going to do well but we are having a training programme at my work place so I could not participate in this year’s competition,”  a very disappointed Adukpo stated.

Between the two long distance runners, they share nine titles, spanning a 10- year period.
