Taekwondo athletes, officials threaten to boycott National Sports Festival

The unsettled fight for the leadership of the Greater Accra Regional Taekwondo Association is threatening to undermine the ongoing National Sports Festival in Kumasi, with the Regional Member Associations (RMA)’s of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) threatening to boycott the August 31-September 7 competition in Kumasi, should the National Sports Authority (NSA) allow “unqualified athletes” to take part in the taekwondo competition.

The RMAs, which form the regional arms of the national federation, say they would not recognise a group of unqualified athletes brought to Kumasi by Mr Norbert Amefu, a rival claimant to the leadership of the Greater Accra Regional Association leadership.

Ghana aathletics is dying — Lutterodt



Former Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) chief, George Haldane-Lutterodt, says he fears for the future of athletics after a fourth unsuccessful attempt by the nation’s athletes to qualify to the final of any athletics event at the ongoing World Athletics Championships.

Mr Lutterodt has, therefore called for a Presidential intervention to save the sport from total collapse after another poor show at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in London.

Basketball clinic for childern

 

Children under the ages of 10 and 15 would have the opportunity to meet NBA star, David West, at an innovative coaching clinic to train and mentor them.

The clinic, which is slated for August 15, would be held at the University of Ghana basketball courts at Legon.
