Communications Director of Zylofon Music, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, has confirmed an assessment and contract review of actors and musicians is currently ongoing by Zylofon Media.
“Contracts are not being terminated or reduced. Every viable business at a certain point in time has to do a review or reassess its operations to refocus. If there’s a need for them to change their style, it’s acceptable.
“Being stagnant doesn’t help. So I think Zylofon Music has gotten to a point where we have to make some changes. Well there may be an iota of truth in the claims but it’s not necessarily or strictly a major effective change.
"However, the duration of the contracts of some artistes are being reviewed, but as to whether it’ll be an extension or reduction it’s still in progress," he said in an interview on Hitz FM.
Arnold added that there are legally binding documents between the label and the artistes so the label cannot just take an arbitrary decision to get rid of an artiste like most people assume.
He added that since it is an ongoing process, it’ll be difficult for the record label to come out and announce the names of artistes who are likely to be exempted.
Owned by Nana Appiah Mensah, Zylofon Media is a multimedia entertainment company established to supply profitable, acceptable, audio and visual entertainment to diverse domestic and international consumers.
Musicians they have signed on include Kumi Guitar, Becca, Obibini, Joyce Blessing, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale. Actors are Too Sweet Annan, James Gardiner, Bibi Bright, Benedicta Gafah and Zynell Zuh while it also has fashion designer, Sima Brew on its books.
