"Wɔmanŋ-nɛ̃" festival starts on Friday

THE second edition of "Wɔmanŋ-Nɛ̃" Festival, celebrated by the people of Korle Gonno in Accra will start tomorrow, September 20 at the Roger Avenue.

Organised by Native Tribe Ghana, an entertainment, arts and cultural events outfit, the three-day event is an opportune time for residents of Korle Gonno and surrounding communities to socialise, network and bond through the many activities that will be held.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Thomas Cobblah of Native Tribe Ghana indicated that there will be a community clean-up exercise and health walk prior to the main event to engage the people of Korle-Gonno and nearby communities such as Chorkor, Mamprobi, Dansoman and people from Gã Mashie and Jamestown all in the Odododiodoo Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

However, the "Osɔnɔ Gbɛkɛ" - (Candle Night), will be held on Thursday night, the eve of the festival in remembrance of their forefathers who were captured into slavery 400 years ago in honour of the Year of Return.

Personalities expected to be part of the festival are Nii Tackie Owuowuo IV, Korle Gonno Mantsɛ; Naa Ardua Okropong, Korle Gonno Manye and Nii Yartey Obedru I, Development Chief respectively.

The rest are the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah; Hon. Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuiye, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency, representatives from the Ghana Tourism Authority among others.
