Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy fail to perfom at VGMA 2019
The rivalry between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale is becoming violent

VGMA 2019: No performance from Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale

THIS year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) was billed to be a night that celebrated the best of Ghanaian music with wonderful performances from some of the biggest names including Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale but the duo failed to perform after a brawl between their camps.

The event, which came off on Saturday, May 18 at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre, was nearly marred by the incident which saw the two being made to leave the auditorium for cooler heads to prevail.

It all started after Stonebwoy was announced winner of the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, a category he made sure to remind people that he had won five times as he made his way to the stage.

When he was on stage to receive the award with his team, Shatta Wale, who had won two awards earlier; Highlife Song of the Year for My Level and Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year with Gringo, made his way to the stage with some members from his camp to reportedly congratulate him but whether it was miscommunication or panic, it resulted in a big fight right on the stage.

Stonebwoy pulled a gun on stage and the show was disrupted for about 30 minutes with both artistes having to leave the auditorium although Stonebwoy came back later but they both did not perform.

Here is what Shatta Wale said on social media:

Many celebrities and fans that went to have fun had to leave the auditorium fearing for their lives. Some of them were actresses Lydia Forson and Jackie Appiah and rapper Sarkodie.

The fight notwithstanding there were performances from other artistes like Medikal, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Amakye Dede, Barima Sidney, King Promise and Kwesi Arthur and Nigerian Burna Boy.
