Stonebwoy & Shatta Wale fight big shame – Kwami Sefa Kayi

Media personality, Kwami Sefa Kayi popularly known as Chairman General, has described the fight between Dancehall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) as a big shame.

Kwami Sefa Kayi, who hosted the show, which took place at the newly constructed Dome at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, May 18 along with Berla Mundi of GHOne was very upset at the incident.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman General said Ghana did not need such unfortunate happenings. “What has happened is a shame and a big one to us and the industry,“ he added.

The VGMA, which kicked off beautifully had to be paused in order to maintain sanity after a fight between Stonebwoy's crew and Shatta Wale’s entourage.

The fight was so intense that Stonebwoy’s manager, Blakk Cedi, was seen throwing punches and pushing members of Shatta Wale’s crew who were trying make their way to the stage when the Kpoo Keke singer was receiving his award for Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

According to an explanation that Shatta Wale posted on Twitter, he only wanted to congratulate his rival on his award, something people have dismissed.

Perhaps in a panic, Stonebwoy pulled out a gun on the stage, a move which has also been heavily criticised by industry players and the public.

While Shatta Wale left the auditorium, Stonebwoy stayed and used the opportunity to apologise for his actions.

“I want to apologise for what just happened, we all read and heard the threats and all so we came prepared. I come in peace and I go in peace. A big thank you to everyone who supports my music and that of any artiste.’’
