I have always been NPP - Obour reveals

The immediate past president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obour has debunked assertions that he defected from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to join the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Due to his close relationship with former President John Dramani Mahama during his MUSIGA tenure, there was a perception he belonged to the NDC but according to Obour, who is currently hoping to represent the people of Asante Akyem constituency in Parliament on the NPP's ticket, the relationship was a professional one.

"I have always been NPP but that didn't mean my political affiliation or ideologies should influence my post. That position is neutral and should be able to work with every President. That was what I did, I focused on the role that will benefit all and not me.

"My relationship with the former President showed my maturity and as MUSIGA President, such support was necessary to push our industry," he said in an interview on Peace FM's Entertainment Review show on Saturday, May 16.

About a month ago, Obour was in the news for all the wrong reasons; he was dragged on social media for his supposed poor handling of his father's COVID-19 diagnosis.

Speaking about the experience, Obour revealed that he got depressed because of the insults and falsehood that was peddled about his image and brand.

"It was very disheartening listening and reading all the negative news about me. Truly, I went into the lowest moments of my life but I thank some colleagues and friends who helped me to come out of this situation. It was so difficult especially when I had lost my father at the time," he stated.
