Negative prophecies better than positive ones — Nigel Gaisie

PROPHET Nigel Gaisie whose prophecy that Dancehall artiste, Ebony, would die in 2018 came to pass has once again ‘revealed’ another top Ghanaian musician will kick the bucket by the end of this year.

And while his pronouncement a fortnight ago has received bashing with many questioning why he only predicts the death of people, the leader of the True Word Prophetic Fire Ministries told Showbiz in an interview on Thursday, May 2, that negative prophecies were better than positive ones.

“When you come to my church, you will appreciate that about 99.9 per cent of my prophecies are positive but indeed, if you are spiritual, then negative prophecies are better than positive ones.”

“Don’t forget that we wrestle not against flesh and blood so we are dealing with the enemy. But we don’t know what the devil is doing that is why the Lord gives it to exclusive people called the prophets; we see the darker side, we deal with the devil so we are able to tell what he is plotting.”

“I would urge all musicians to pray because although you can see one prophecy, it represents a whole lot. Prophecy is figurative. You can see one but it represents a whole lot; they should check their cars, their speed levels etc. and this could go a long way to save them,” he said.

On the current prophecy, Prophet Nigel said: “The Lord appeared to me and told me that we should pray for one musician and that he will fall before the end of the year. I know the person but from past experiences, I am not mentioning any name. I am trying to reach out to the person so I pray that he follows up.”

“He is a top notch musician but I won’t disclose his name or the exact details. I had a lot of bashing after the Ebony incident, with people asking why don’t prophets reach out to the people but that is not our duty.”

“I picked the prophecy on Sunday so I called the person’s manager and my son Blakk Rasta to also reach out to the person and tell him this is what I picked so I pray that they follow up.”

Showbiz also spoke to Rev. Father Michael Owusu-Ofori of the St Theresa’s Catholic Church on such prophecies. He said: “I think that our lives are a gift from God and God’s grace is that we accomplish the reason for which He sent us on earth.

“For someone who is ripened in life, be it a celebrity or someone of high status in society, it doesn’t mean that certain things should be said about the person so that he or she is afraid.

"Even if God has not destined the person to die at a particular time, fear about what has been said about him or her could even kill the person.”

“We should see the positive aspect of everything, even if it’s a revelation that God said A, B and C about this person. If you read the scripture very well, God desires not that the sinner will die but that the sinner will repent so that when he dies, he will be with Him in Paradise,” he stated.

For his part, Hiplife Grandpapa, Reggie Rockstone, believes that men of God just like to scare people.

“They create paranoia with these prophecies. I also wonder why they go public with such prophecies. I have experienced it before but I have my God so I just say thank you to them and move on.”

“We have genuine, we have fake but now the bad is making the good look bad and if you are gullible then they will probably get you.

"If you are pretty smart like I am, then when they talk you can read meaning into that. They could say what they want to but it doesn’t mean that it is coming from God,” he said.

Highlife Maestro, Kojo Antwi, also shared his thoughts saying: “I believe God speaks to all of us but I have a problem with these prophecies that always say this person will die, that person will die. Death is inevitable once you are born but I feel that such prophesies put fear in people.”

Asked if he has received any such prophecy before, he answered in the negative. “I believe I am the most blessed person on earth. If you bring such prophecies my way, I won’t buy it. You cannot put fear in me,” he stated.
