A 23-year-old young lady, Nana Ama Benson, was in the early hours of Sunday crowned Miss Ghana 2018 at the Marriott Hotel in Accra.
Nana Ama, who represented the Central Region in the pageant beat nine other girls to win the title.
Laila Issaka, who was the Northern regional representative was the first runners-up while Elizabeth Mary Maclean of the Western Region was second runner-up.
For her prize Nana Ama, whose mission is to motivate people to reach their very best, took home a brand new Mahindra KUV 100 and along with her runners-up will receive a monthly allowance for a year.
They will also be required to volunteer for a year with Exclusive Events Ghana, organisers of the pageant or the Miss Ghana Foundation.
Hosted by Radio and television personality, Abeiku Santana, judges for the pageant included Adom FM’s Akumaa Mama Zimbi; CEO of New Max Group, Prince Etornam; President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour and CEO of Exclusive Events, Inna Maryam Patty.
The contestants were taken through various segments before the final winner was selected.
They showed off their bodies and their poise in the swimsuit and evening wear segments, then there was the Highlife segment where they showed off their dancing skills and then the Question Time segment where the judges tested their intelligence.
The event witnessed performances from Ruff Town Records’ Wendy Shay, saxophonist, Steve Bedi as well as from the Asa Band, owned by footballer, Asamoah Gyan.
Some of the stars who lighted up the place included Shatta Michy, Okyeame Kwame, Moesha Boduong and Victoria Lebene.
