The pageant, which is being put together by Jay and Jay in collaboration with Badu GH, is also aiming to address sanitation issues in the region as well as empower the indigenes.
Auditions for Miss Golden Stool will take place on August 25 and 26 in Kumasi at the Kosados Hotel. Ladies between the ages of 18 to 30 years are eligible to participate in the competition.
Contestants must not necessarily be based in the region but must have a connection with the Ashanti Region.
After the audition, 20 contestants will be chosen with the list pruned to 12 finalists who will be housed for the reality show. The finalists will be required to execute tasks every week till the final event which has been scheduled for October 29 at the Kosados Hotel, Kumasi.
In an interview with Showbiz, organiser of the pageant, Akua Amoakoaa, said her company will make sure the ultimate winner gets what is due her after the competition.
“I am the winner of Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2011 and I know the shame that comes with a pageant when the winners don’t get their prize packages. There is a car and cash for the winner and other prizes for the second and third winner,” Akua stated.
Akua who is currently, the General Manager for Angel TV said she hoped the pageant, which will be held annually will bring about some positive changes in the Ashanti region.
“At the end of the pageant, I wish to transport our culture to the outside world and attract some tourists as well,” she added.
