Joe Mettle wins Best Male Artiste at AGMMA

After bagging three awards; Best Male Vocalist, Gospel Artiste and Gospel Song  of the Year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), celebrated Gospel artiste, Joe Mettle, stays winning.

Last Saturday, the singer was crowned the Male Artiste of Excellence at the 2018 edition of the African Gospel Music and Media Awards (AGMMA) held at the East London Arts and Music Auditorium in London.

Joe Mettle beat other renowned Gospel musicians like his country man, Sonnie Badu, Sammie Okposo, Nathaniel Bassey and Mike Abdul all from Nigeria, Dr Tumi and Benjamin Dube from South Africa, Abel Chungu Musuka from Zambia and Evans Ogboi (UK), to win the award.

His very popular song, Bo Noo Ni also won Song of Excellence, tying with Sammie Okposo’s song Marvellous Thing. The Owanwani singer’s album, God of Miracles was also nominated for Album of Excellence.

Since releasing the chart topping Bo Noo Ni last year, which has over three million views on YouTube, the 2017 VGMA Artiste of the Year has continuously enjoyed good patronage from music lovers with other songs like Ogya and Yesu Adi Nkunim so his latest awards are not surprising to those who have followed his work.

Other Ghanaian acts who received nominations for the awards were Ceccy Twum, Calvis Hammond, Diana Hamilton, Ohemaa Mercy, Kings Crew, Niiella, Akesse Brempong, Jloopz, Kingzkid and Preachers.

In a statement on Monday, Joe Mettle and his management thanked the organisers for the recognition and dedicated them to all young Africans across the continent working hard in spite of the challenges they face.

Away from the awards, Joe Mettle and his Love Gift team are preparing to host patrons at this year’s edition of the annual Praiz Reloaded concert planned for Saturday, June 24 at the Action Chapel International headquarters, Spintex, Accra.

In the last seven years, Praiz Reloaded has attracted audiences from around the world and this year’s event will feature Onos Ariyo (Nigeria), Uncle Ato (Ghana), Areatha Anderson (UK), Luigi Maclean (Ghana), Simian (France) among others.
