Last week, a video of Happy Foriwa Kwarteng, the older sister of the late Dancehall star, Ebony, singing Efya's Until the Dawn went viral. The video gained a lot of attention on social media because of Foriwa's voice with people commenting on the talent in the family.
Soon after, it was rumoured that, their father, Nana Poku Kwarteng was grooming her to take over from her sister who met her untimely death in February after a ghastly accident on the Kumasi-Sunyani highway.
However, in a video on her social media handle, Foriwa has debunked such rumours. In a video, Foriwa said she likes to do covers of other songs adding that she is not going to complete Ebony's unfinished work.
“…about the music videos I do, especially that of Efya’s “Until the Dawn” which has gone viral. I’m sorry but I do such videos just for the fun of it. Literally, it’s a hobby and I’ve been doing this for quite some time now. It's not because somebody is grooming anybody to bring out songs,” she said.
She added that it was too early to replace her sister, Ebony. “For Christ's sake it is way too early for anything like that. I beg you; Ebony’s sister is not bringing out any song, especially at this time. Even if anything of that sort will come, I will personally come out and say it, these news are not facts but rumours,” she said.
