I never stopped believing in myself – Amma Krampah
WHEN she had her son after secondary school nine years ago, television host Amma Krampah thought that was the end for her but she trusted in time and is now living her dreams.
Amma Krampah is the host and Executive Producer of The Extra O Women Show, a 30-minute show which airs on EBN TV on Sundays, at 4 p.m. and repeated on Wednesdays at 9 a.m.
It is also live on YouTube as Extra O Women Africa and on Facebook as EBN Live.
“I’ve always trusted in time, I had hope in the woman I wanted to become. I worked for free, I am 30 years now and I am proud of myself,” she told Graphic Showbiz in an interview recently.
According to Amma Krampah, The Extra O Women Show is a program she started with a man called Rex Annan to celebrate women who have achieved success in their careers.
“It is also to put the limelight on women who have picked up jobs in male-dominated areas. Another extension of the show is a documentary.
“We also have the Extra O Women Foundation where we support women and children who are in need, we give them money, help them get a vocation and education,” she said.
The Extra O Women Show started airing in January this year and women who have been guests are Samia Nkrumah, former CPP Chairperson; Hajia Abibata Zakariah, Deputy CEO of MASLOC; Dr. Agnes Adu, CEO of Trade Fair; Audrey Swatson, the youngest commercial pilot, among others.
Talking on the kind of feedback she gets, Amma Krampah said it had been positive. “So far, so good; even though the channel we air on is not very popular, we get a lot of views on Facebook and YouTube though we are still young,” she said.
Amma Krampah also used the opportunity to outline some challenges they encounter. “Just like any good thing, there are a few challenges, first is logistics cost which is borne by Rex and me, we need sponsors to come on board.
“When it comes to getting the women, they are reluctant to come on the show when you mention the channel until they see some of the interviews,” she stated.
On Tuesday, March 10, which marked her 30th birthday, the Extra O Women Foundation made a donation to the Dworwulu Special School, and Amma Krampah tells Graphic Showbiz that it is something they hope to do every quarter as their way of giving back to society.
Amma Krampah is currently in her third year at the African University College of Communications (AUCC) reading Strategic Communications. She attended Ajumako-Mando Senior High School.
She is the second of six children, born to Mr. Richard Krampah and Mrs. Janet Ofori Krampah. She comes from Ajumako-Bisease in the Central Region.
To the youth out there aspiring to take up various professions, Amma Krampah says, “Don’t give up, cry if you have to but never give up. I never stopped believing in myself, never stop believing in yourself.”
