I’m done with singing — Richie

Some years ago, Lynx Entertainment boss, Richie Mensah faced a tough task; he had to choose between singing or managing artistes.

He had been doing well as a musician with his voice on songs like Frema, Yaro, When I Get You, London bringing him popularity so, as he told Showbiz in a recent interview, it was difficult to make a choice.

Eventually, after weeks of deliberations, Richie gave up singing.  According to him, although giving up singing to help build the careers of other young talents was hard, it has all been worth it.

Today, that long held vision of helping groom young artistes has paid off and he is excited at how well his current trio, MzVee, KiDi and Kuami Eugene are doing.

Asked if he would ever actively sing again, Richie replied that he was done with it.  “Music entails a lot. The work load is too much that I can’t abandon my duties as the label boss and be shooting music videos and going on stages to perform. I will actually be competing with my own artistes,” he said.

Richie explained that his fans are not happy with him quitting music and wished he drops at least one song every year.

“I have had a lot of calls from my fans to come back and start singing again but I have already decided and it’s final. In as much as I want to satisfy my fans I don’t think I want to come back to singing again,” he said.

Would he feature on any tracks by his signees? “I don’t think I would do that because again I would have video clips with them and be on the stages with them and I don’t think I am ready to do that,” he stated.
