Chief Executive Officer of EIB Network, Nat Kwabena Adisi popularly known as Bola Ray, has received his award for emerging the Most Influential Entertainment Personality in Ghana in 2018.

Shine Publications, ran by young entrepreneur, Jerry Wonder, initiated the scheme to celebrate influential personalities in the entertainment industry who are impacting positively in society and are assisting their colleagues or other stakeholders in the entertainment fraternity to also achieve greatness.

Jerry Wonder, together with other staff of the publication, presented the award to Bola Ray at Starr FM, where he hosts the popular Starr Chat programme.

According to Jerry Wonder, the Most Influential Entertainment personalities initiative was necessary as these personalities could help in positively shaping the society.

"Bola Ray has been a driving force in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. His concept, 'Ghana Meets Naija', has grown into a tool that is continually uniting cultures.

"He, indeed is a brand that must be followed, especially in recent times when young acts are more focused on acquiring wealth only rather than merging their ambitions with positive societal impact", he explained.

Nana Ama McBrown made it into the Top 20

The scheme, according to Shine Publications, seeks to differentiate 'popularity' from 'influence.' The personalities were measured by their influence, not just on their fans, but also on their colleagues; like their ability to rally as many of their colleagues as possible behind a goal.

The period under review was from 2017 till date and focused on the achievements and most recent works of the selected personalities. Excellence and the effort to improve the lives of their colleagues or better a situation was also considered as a yardstick.

It was in consideration of all this that Bola Ray emerged as the overall winner. For the team at Shine, Bola Ray's influence was enough to see him overcome arguably the biggest man on the entertainment scene, Nana Appiah Mensah, the owner of Zylofon Media and its sister companies including Menzgold.

"Despite signing arguably the biggest music act in Ghana, Shatta Wale, for a reported figure of $1.5 million, Nana Appiah could not resolve the feud between Shatta Wale and label mate Stonebwoy.

"This was not good for the corporate image of Zylofon and the Ghanaian music community. It is this that prevented Nana Appiah from attaining the number one spot," the team said.

Uncle Ebo Whyte is also on the list

The team stated the Bola Ray was able to help steer the rivalry between Shatta Wale and Wizkid, which could have turned out badly, in a positive light through this year's edition of 'Ghana Meets Naija.'

Jerry Wonder said the chart will eventually evolve into an event next year. Below is the full list of the Top 20 influential personalities.
