A GOOD number of Ghanaian musicians will be performing at the maiden edition of Ghana Music Awards South Africa scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 3, at Pretoria, South Africa.
The musicians are Medikal, Praye Honeho, Quata Budukusu, Maccacio, KK Fosu, Epixode and Patapaa.
According to the organisers of the event, Media Africa Studios, there will be surprise acts from musicians from Nigeria, South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
The aim is to celebrate and award individuals and corporate excellence within the entertainment industry among the Ghanaian Community in South Africa.
Speaking with Showbiz about the upcoming event, Madam Nana Grace Fosu Seaworyeh, CEO of Media Africa Studios, said, “It is not just going to be a night to just promote Ghanaian music but also create an avenue for Ghanaian musicians to meet and associate with other top music makers from across the world”.
Some of the categories to be awarded include Gospel Artiste of the Year, Promising Artiste of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, Best Group of the Year, Hiplife Artiste of the Year, Best Rapper of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year.
One Corner hitmaker, Patapaa leads the nomination list with nine nods. Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and Wish Me Well singer, Kuami Eugene follow with seven nominations each.
Some of the artistes who will be battling for some of the awards are KiDi, King Promise, Kwesi Arthur, Kuami Eugene, Wendy Shay, B4Bonah, Kelvin Boy, Patapaa and eShun for New Artiste of the Year.
Sarkodie, Eno Barony, Yaa Pono, TeePhlow, Quata Budukusu, M.anifest, Medikal and Strongman will vy for the Best Rapper award.
Others are King Promise, Choirmaster, KiDi, KK Fosu, Kuami Eugene, Luta, Epixode and Mugeez who are gunning for Best Male Vocalist of the Year.
