Benakay: Female musicians are not helpful

NEW Highlife artiste Benakay has urged female musicians to open up when up and coming ones knock on their doors.

According to the beautiful singer, it is very difficult getting collaboration with female musicians especially the top ones.

“I have approached so many female musicians who I want to work with and I was turned down by all of them.

"I don’t want to mention names but the male musicians are more friendly and willing to work with you than the females,” she told Graphic Showbiz last week.

So far she has worked with artistes like Yaa Pono, Mr Eazi and Akwaboah but Benakay does not understand why her female colleagues will decline collaborating with her.

“I don’t know if it is jealousy, I don’t just get it. I believe when you have a beautiful song like I do, it shouldn’t be a problem getting a collaboration.

"I didn’t have to go through any stress getting Yaa Pono, Mr Eazi and Akwaboah on my songs because they believe in what I have,” she said

Benakay, real name Sarah Abena Karle Darko, has released her song Cooli Down, written and produced by Akwaboah.

It is a beautifully crafted song which coupled with her great voice is very appealing and will win any music lover over.
