‘Live in Accra’ jazz festival opens

The 2017 edition of the ‘Live in Accra Jazz Festival’ opened yesterday, April 19 with an exhibition of jazz-themed paintings by Yaw Safori at the Alliance Française in Accra.

Safori, an internationally-acclaimed, self-taught artsist,   has a deep love for jazz which reflects in his paintings of soloists, trios, quartets and big bands as well as stylistic renditions of various instruments.

Over 50 dance groups from all the regions of Ghana will converge at James Town on Saturday, April 29 in a concert dubbed Azonto Dance Concert.

Some of the dance groups who will thrill patrons are Heroz, NWA, The Gentlemen, Humble Stars, Footprint, Kyses, DFC, Zigi, Webbie, BBOYS, Breaking Boys, I Candy among others.

Urban gospel rapper and poet, Psalm 1 is set to stage this year’s edition of his annual concert dubbed Vimming Concert 2.0. This year’s event takes place on Friday, April 21, at 10am at the Action Chapel International on the Spintex Road.

The concert will feature a number of personalities including Kafui Dey of GhOne, Jeremie Van Garshong, Actor/Pastor Timothy Bentum, Kingzkid, Jaysmoke and Lil Zig.

Hewale celebrates with concerts and workshops

Hewale Sounds, a neo-traditional/contemporary band led by master flutist, Dela Botri is 21- years-old and the anniversary will be marked with concerts  and workshops in Accra and Akosombo.

The celebration kicks off with a workshop in partnership with the Central Police Band at the Police Depot in Accra on Monday, April 10 with Dela Botri, Superintendent Dr Frank Hukporti and Danish saxophonist, Katrin Suwalski as moderators.
