The actress and her friends donated assorted items such as soap, clothes, drinks, bottled water, ceiling fans among others to the inmates.

Victoria Lebene  and her friends said the donation was part of activities marking their birthday celebrations which fell in the month of July.

“Last year was good and this year is even better. And we hope in subsequent years, we will go bigger and better to bring comfort to the needy,” the Bitter Sweet Wine actress said.

She explained that one of the reasons why she decided to donate to the Prisons Service is because she is a daughter of an ex- prisons officer and witnessed the unwholesome treatment prisoners endure.

Victoria Lebene said she believes the Prisons Service needs to be motivated and prisoners need to be shown some love by all Ghanaians.

“The inmates have skills but there are no facilities for them. Therefore per their needs, we donated six ceiling fans for their training rooms, a number of sewing machines and food items.

“I made this happen with the help of actress Bervlyn Lomotey, Peter Richie, Georgina Odoom, Adjetey Anang and a few other loved ones,” she said.

Deputy Director of Prisons, DDP Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, who is the Officer in Charge for the Maamobi-based prison commended Lebene and her friends for their kind gesture.

“We are grateful and I want to say don’t let this be the last. We need to help each other to make the environment condusive for us all to live in. We are really proud of you and we pray God continues to open your heart,” she said.

Victoria Lebene has stated that, the July For Love initiative is here to stay to help the vulnerable and appealed to people to support them.
