Nigerian singer, Runtown has denied allegations making the rounds that he defrauded a US-based woman identified as Shawn Rene.
The woman had in the viral video over the weekend accused the pop star and his brother of defrauding her.
Reacting to the allegation, Runtown through his management, ‘SoundGod Music Group’ in an official statement released on Monday described the claim as blackmail and lies.

He said the white woman was duped by a group of impostors using his name.
He, however, added that security agencies; the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (ECFC) and the DSS were conducting investigations into the matter.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to reports circulating on social media by a US-based woman named, Shawn Rene, accusing our artist, Runtown of fraud.
‘It's all lies and an attempt to blackmail and tarnish our image. We have contacted the Nigerian security agencies including the DSS and EFCC who are all on the matter at the moment and preliminary investigations already reveal that it's a group of impostors who may have duped ‘Shawn Rene’ using Runtown’s name.”
Runtown real name Douglas Jack Agu was born on 19 August 1989 in Enugu but grew up partly in Abuja and Lagos, where he finished his primary education.
In 2014 he released Gallardo, a song which features Davido and was released as the first single off his debut studio album, Ghetto University.
Gallardo went on to win Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
The album generated over ₦35million on the music portal thus earning him a spot in the list of "Top 5 Most Streamed Artist".
On November 4, 2016, Runtown released the ballad Mad Over You which charted at number 38 on the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart.
