Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello of Jenifa fame, has welcomed a set of twins with her husband, JJC Skillz. Akindele disclosed this on her Instagram story.
“Thank you Lord. Oluwa e tobi (God is great), I am now being called a new name,”she said. This comes a few years after one Lagos-based pastor, name withheld, reportedly said Akindele may not have children of her own, and might end up with another broken home.
The pastor was quoted as saying, “A popular actress in Nollywood, Funke Akindele, who was once in the Yoruba movie industry should pray deeply so as to have children. Another grace she has is to marry a pastor who can fight the battle on her behalf with prayers.”
Last year, the pastor insisted on his words despite the series of attacks he received. According to him, he was only advising Akindele to draw nearer to God in order for her to have children.
He reportedly said, “Yes, it’s God that revealed to me that she’s destined to be famous and wealthy but no child, but if she’s very prayerful, she will eventually break the yoke of barrenness and become a mother.
"That same message has also been repeated. Even, if she doesn’t seek the face of God, her enemies don’t want her to have a stable home despite the fact that she has remarried. That means the marriage can still crash.
“Some said I should have written a letter to her or invited her privately instead of making it public. But I am not a kind of prophet that predicts because of money. I am an anointed prophet. My calling is to deliver message as sent by God."
Also last year, the movie star had to deny having twins after news went viral that she had been delivered of a set of twins in London. It all turned out to be a hoax and the actress wasted no time in denying it.
She described the report as a figment of people’s imagination, adding that everyone would know when she puts to bed. She had said: “Don’t mind those people. They’re only imagining. You cannot hide a pregnancy for long. And when you deliver, people must surely know. So, delivering a set of twins in London is not something one can hide at all.”
That was one year ago but the story is different now. The actress and her husband, JJC Skillz, are in absolute bliss and the world is celebrating with them.
There’s no actor or actress worth his salt in Nollywood that is not rejoicing with the Bellos right now. Every artiste has a picture of the couple on their pages with warm words for the twins.
Mercy Aigbe posted on Instagram the good news and wrote: “Best news of the year! Jehovah overdo…Twins. To God be all the glory!!
Actress, Dayo Amusa, used the opportunity to advise some people who had been negative towards the actress. She said, “I join the world in celebrating you both today@funkejenifaakindele & @jjcskillz CONGRATULATIONS Logan Ti O De! Egan E Dogo?ðÿŸÿÿ¼ÿ Your joy shall be permanent IJN. Madam #Naysayer Oju ti e o. Elenu Razor. What have you got to say next? Make I just keep quiet”
Toyin Abraham of Alakada fame had this to say, “I’m super happy for you Aunty Funke and jjc, I’m excited Iya ibeji?ðÿŸÿ’ÿƒÿ?ðÿŸÿ’ÿƒÿThis is huge news,I’m happy and I bless God for you?@funkejenifaakindele Iya ibeji awwww I’m happy for you Aunty Funke, I am happy GOD BLESS YOU”
Funke was born in Lagos on August 24, 1977. Her first marriage in 2012 crashed a year later. But in May 2016, she quietly married, in London, Abdul Rasheed Bello, a rapper, who has the stage name, JJC Skillz.
By the evening of yesterday, the actress had close to 120 likes on the video she posted to thank God on the birth of the twins.
