Voting resumed Saturday morning in a number of polling stations across the 31 constituencies of the Northern Region.

This in response to the decision by the Electoral Commission Friday evening, to adjourn voting to Saturday in areas where the biometric verification of voters could not be completed and as a result some voters in the queue could not be processed to vote.

By 9:00 p.m Friday, many voters in the region had still not cast their votes due to difficulties with the verification machines and the delay in the commencement of polls.

At some polling stations in Tamale, the verification machines were out of order, whilst in other places the machines worked perfectly for some people, but failed to respond to others.

According to the Director of the EC in the Yendi constituency, Mr John Mensah, “voting is continuing in about 21 polling stations in the constituency.”

He said the E.C. would therefore hold on with the collation of the results until voting in these polling stations is closed.

The Director of the EC in the West Mamprusi district, Chief F. A. Adams indicated that elections were continuing in three polling stations in the Walewale and Yagaba/Kubore constituencies.

He said the results would be collated immediately voting ends in the three polling stations.

At the time of filing this report, a number of prospective voters had turned up at some polling stations in Tamale hoping to cast their votes.

Mercy Baba, one of the voters who had queued at the Bureau of Ghana Languages polling centre in the Sagnarigu constituency said she was happy the EC had given them another opportunity to exercise their voting right.

She however complained that the process was moving at a rather slow pace.

Meanwhile, collation of results is underway in Tolon and Bunkprugu.
