Rawlings' office announces June 4 Anniversary programme

Rawlings and Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso in the 'revolutionary days'A cadre forum will be held on Monday, June 3 to herald activities marking the 34th anniversary of the June 4 uprising, an anniversary planning committee has announced.
 
“Leader of the uprising, Flt Jerry John Rawlings will address cadres drawn from all the regions at his office from 2pm,” a statement from the office of the former president has said.
 
It said this year’s anniversary is being celebrated under the theme, “Patriotism, Key to Nation Building”.
 
According to the statement, on Tuesday, June 4 there will be the traditional cadres route march and wreath laying ceremony. The route march will start from the Elwak Stadium through the Cantonments Communications Centre to the Revolution Square at the forecourts of the Flagstaff House.
 
“A short parade and wreath-laying ceremony as well as the lighting of the perpetual flame will then climax the commemoration at 8.30am.”
