Prez Akufo-Addo predicts landslide victory for NPP in 2020 elections

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has predicted a landslide victory for the governing New Patriotic Party in the December Presidential elections.

He said his confidence stems from his superior record as President as compared to what he described as the "very, very, poor record" of his main opponent John Dramani Mahama.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM, President Akufo-Addo added that he was further buoyed by the reception he had received from Ghanaians on his travels across the country.

"I don't believe that the 2008 example is what is going to happen (in 2020), we are going to win this election big time. Oh yeah, for sure, it's obvious from our work and from the reception that people have been giving me across the country," President Akufo-Addo said.

"We are going to be winning this election big time. We are gonna do so on the basis of our record, especially when we have against us somebody whose record is very, very poor. "Perhaps, if we had somebody else on the other side, somebody who has not had a taste of government.

The President said the record of his opponent in managing the national economy was the worst in recent history.

"Somebody who took us as an emerging oil economy to the hands of the IMF, put strictures on us that prevented employment in the public sector, somebody whose management of our national economy in the fourth republic is probably the worst on record...".

The President is currently on a tour of the Eastern Region and is expected to inspect the ongoing construction of the Nkawkaw–New Abirem road later today.
