New Asokwa Municipal Assembly gets presiding member.
The Assembly member for Atonsu Kuwait was on Monday, April 30, 2018 elected as the first Presiding Member for the newly created Asokwa Municipal Assembly.

His only contender, Nana Yaw Wiredu, Assemby member for Ahinsan Estate managed to only three votes.
In all, the assembly has 20 members including 12 elected, six government appointees, one Member of Parliament and one Municipal Chief Executive.
However, it is yet to have an MCE and one of the elected assembly members, Mr Oscar Richies, is currently facing a one-year suspension for assaulting the Deputy Coordinating Director for Kumasi Metropolitan Aseembly (KMA).
Asokwa is one the new municipal assemblies carved out of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly this year.
The others are Oforikrom, Tafo, Kwadaso and Suame municipal assemblies.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Banor appealed for unity among members of the assembly to push forward the agenda of the newly created municipality.
He said the work ahead was enormous and would need the collaboration of all members including the technocrats and the traditional authorities to bring the needed development to the assembly.
He pledged to be neutral and be guided by only the interest of the assembly in the discharge of his duties.
The Kaasehene, Nana Mensah Bonsu charged the new assembly to work hard to redeem the image of the assembly and to make it the envy of other assemblies in the region.
He said the new assembly had the potential to generate revenue to undertake developmental projects and urged the members to ensure that the assembly gets its fair share of the development.
