NDC raises concern over omission of key voter data in 2024 certified register
The Director of Elections and IT of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah says the voters register the Electoral Commission has given to political parties is incomplete.
He said critical data needed to ensure transparency and trust in the electoral process was missing in the register given to political parties.
In a post on Facebook on Thursday, [November 7, 2024] , Dr Omane Boamah said the omission of essential voter statistics from the final register given to political parties, jeopardizes the legitimacy of the upcoming election.
According to Dr. Boamah, the data excluded from what was given out is what political parties, civil society groups, and international observers rely on to verify the authenticity and accuracy of the voter database.
He said what was missing include comprehensive breakdowns at national, regional, and constituency levels, as well as figures on absentee voters, gender demographics, and registered proxy voters.
“These omissions strike at the core of electoral transparency, threatening the legitimacy of the 2024 elections and undermining the public’s trust in the process,” Dr. Boamah stated.
