Maintain peace at La — MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive for the La-Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA), Mrs Gladys Mann Dedey, has tasked authorities at the La Traditional Council not to relent in maintaining peace in the community during and after the Homowo festival.

“I entreat you all, especially the youth, to ensure that this year’s Homowo is celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere. Let us show unity and love towards one another before, during and after the occasion,” she said.

Mrs Mann Dedey made the call when she, on behalf of the LaDMA, presented assorted items to the La Traditional Council in support of this year's Homowo celebrations.

The items included crates of assorted drinks, 28 bags of maize, palm oil, two bottles of schnapps and an undisclosed amount of money.

Mrs Mann Dedey recognised the critical roles chiefs played in decision making in the community and at the local level.

She, therefore, reiterated the need to support them in diverse ways to discharge their mandate effectively.

The donation is an annual support to the people of La during the Homowo festival.

Mrs Mann Dedey said anyone arrested for causing any form of disturbance or harm during the celebration would be prosecuted.

Response

The La Mantse, Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III, re-affirmed the traditional council’s zeal to ensure a violent-free Homowo celebration.

He noted that the existing peace in the traditional area was paramount to the growth of the people and the municipality.

Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III prayed for the success of the assembly in the coming years while he entreated parents and guardians to ensure the well-being of their children.

He then expressed appreciation to LaDMA for their gesture.

“We are very grateful to the municipal assembly for their support. We assure them that we will ensure a peaceful environment for the growth of the municipality,” he added.
