I’m going to correct wrongs to secure victory for NDC — Ade Coker

“I am going to correct the wrongs in the past to secure victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region in the 2020 election,” the re-elected Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, has stated.

In his victory address at the just-ended ninth Greater Accra Regional delegates’ conference at the University of Ghana last Saturday, the elated chairman assured his jubilant supporters that he would justify the confidence reposed in him by the delegates by uniting the rank and file of the party in the region to execute the mission of winning back the region it lost to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the last election.

Mr Coker polled 319 votes to defeat his close contender, Mr Daniel Amartey Mensah, a former Municipal Chief Executiven of the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly, and Mr Emmanuel Ashie-Moore, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta, who obtained 293 and 283 votes respectively. This is the third time Mr Amartey has lost in his bid to lead the party in the region.

The conference had the theme: “Recapturing Greater Accra: Strong and Determined Leadership.”

"God has shown favour to me... with Christ in our vessel, I'm most grateful to everybody, I'm most grateful to all those who have believed in me...I'll ensure that the NDC comes to power in the year 2020," Mr Coker said to cheering supporters.

Jubilation

Supporters of Mr Coker jubilated as they sang and danced to brass band music when the results were finally declared around 10:30 p.m. at the central cafeteria of the University of Ghana.

The NDC, in the last election, lost many of its seats to the NPP and that is the trend Mr Coker has vowed to reverse.

There are currently 34 constituencies in the Greater Accra Region, of which the NDC holds 13 with the rest going to the governing NPP.
