Yilo Krobo MP assists Samlesi with kindergarten block

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Yilo Krobo in the Eastern Region, Mr Albert Tetteh Nyakotey, has cut the sod for the construction of a two-unit classroom block, a washroom and a store for the Kindergarten (KG) department of the Samlesi Municipal Assembly Primary School.

The MP said he was funding the project from his own resources to help children from Samlesi and nearby villages benefit from KG education before they proceed to primary school.

“I have been touched by the plight of the little children in Samlesi and other villages who for lack of KG education, their parents keep them at home,” the MP stated.

Campaign promise

Mr Nyakotey explained to the Daily Graphic that during his campaign tour of the constituency in the latter part of last year, it came to his notice that Samlesi had no KG section, hence the children were at home.

He said he was touched and promised to help them solve the problem if he won the election.

“Once I have promised them, and they were also faithful to me by electing me, I must redeem my promise and pledge, hence the KG block that I am going to build for them and other good things to come. For these little children to travel four to five kilometres to other villages such as Samlesi Dornor, Perpertifi among others to access KG education is worrying,” he lamented.

Mr Nyakotey said his aim as MP was to help raise the standard of education in the constituency through various means, including awarding of scholarships to needy students.

“I have factored this into my overall plan for the next four years to see what I will be able to do for my needy communities,” he added.

He told the community members that even though the NDC they voted for was not in government, there was hope for the next election when the NDC would take over and give them good governance.

He pledged to tackle other projects such as a broken-down bridge at Nyuabeng and another KG block at Apersua which were in deplorable states.

The Dadematse (community leader) of Samlesi, Dadematse Ebenezer Tetteh, on behalf of Samlesi and other beneficiary communities thanked the MP for his loyalty.
