A family spokesperson for the wife of the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko has said Mrs Naana Baiden Agyarko has not expressed any interest in succeeding her husband for the vacant parliamentary seat.

In a radio interview Tuesday morning, the family spokesperson said Mrs Josephine Naana Agyarko was presently interested in how she can lay the late husband to rest and organise a befitting funeral.

He indicated that Naana Agyarko has not given permission to anybody for them to use her name or lobby for her to succeed the late MP.

The family spokesperson, Kwame Nsiah Poku speaking to Accra based Okay FM Tuesday morning expressed concern about how the focus has been shifted from the burial and funeral to who was to succeed the late MP.

He said the parties engaging in the politicking with Naana Agyarko's name do not have her permission to do so.

The Electoral Commission is to organise a by-election to elect a successor for the vacant Parliamentary seat within 60 days.

On Monday, it emerged that a number of people including the two wives of the late MP have expressed interest.

Posters of the two women, Josephine Naana Baiden Agyarko and Lydia Alhassan emerged as part of the politicking to find a replacement on Monday.

Commenting on the development, the spokesperson, Kwame Nsiah Poku said Naana Agyarko was the only wife of the late MP but admitted the deceased had children with Lydia Alhassan.

He said at the appropriate, Naana will speak and that the parliamentary seat was a secondary matter.

He said those who were behind the posters have been asked to desist from using Naana's name for the politicking since it was not necessary.
