Stakeholders in the Ga North Municipal Assembly have agreed to embark on massive development projects in 2019 to give the municipality a facelift.

The assembly, since its inception, has encountered numerous challenges and, therefore, need a huge transformation, especially with its road.

The projects which have been approved in the 2019-2022 budget include the construction of a health post at Amanfrom, the furnishing of the Amanfrom CHIPS compound and the construction of a wall at the Pokuase Health Facility.

With regard to the 2019 composite budget projections, a total of GH¢9,117,168.74 revenue was estimated and expected to come from the assembly’s internally generated funds (IGF) of GH¢2,500,000.

Meeting

This was made known when the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the assembly, Ms Gertrude Ankrah, was speaking at the assembly’s second ordinary meeting that was held in Amamoley to deliberate on the development of the municipality.

At the two-day meeting, the stakeholders discussed and adopted the Executive Committee Report, approved the Assembly’s Draft 2019 Composite Budget and  approved the assembly’s medium-term development plan.

The draft 2019 composite budget and draft 2019 Fee Fixing Resolution were presented to the house by the Municipal Budget Officer, Mr Peter Dzogbede, on behalf of the MCE, who is also the Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the assembly.

Development projects

Highlighting the projects to be embarked on in the budget, Ms Ankrah mentioned the construction of two culverts at Nii Ankraman, Fise Electorate areas, and more importantly, the maintenance and reshaping of roads in the entire municipality.

She also said the cleaning of 8km stretch of open drains had been approved, aside from the construction of a CHIPS compound at Afiaman and the acquisition and documentation of a final disposal site.

On education, Ms Ankrah confirmed the rehabilitation of a library block for the MA Amamorley Basic School and the construction of one two-unit KG classroom block at Amamorley Methodist Primary School.

Assembly’s needs

Meanwhile, the office needed to be equipped to facilitate its running and she, therefore, mentioned that the assembly would purchase two motorbikes for the dispatch of letters and also for the Municipal Environment Health Directorate to enhance efficiency.

“We will also purchase and install one generator set for the office,” she said.
