Desist from campaign of invectives, insults — Kale

An aspiring Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Cezar Kale, has urged party members to desist from campaign of invectives and insults as the national executive contest is not a do-and-die affair.

“It is not a world war. We should do this campaign with respect, serenity and some kind of decency. By so doing, candidates with best messages will emerge,” he said

Semblance of unity

Mr Kale, who was speaking to the Daily Graphic in an interview, mentioned the semblance of unity as a basic requirement for victory in the 2020 election.

“We don’t need to be good friends to be able to work together. After all, families in the same house do have fracas. And if we are able to come together to solve our problems, I can assure you, we have won 2020,” he said.

The trained teacher believes he has chances of winning the deputy general secretary position due to his vast political experience and the call from party members to serve the party at a higher level.

Welfare system

When given the nod, he intends to advocate and implement a comprehensive welfare system for party executives from the branch to national level who might suffer economically as a result of political inclination.

The system, he said, would support executives through skills empowerment and financial support.

“There is no rewards system for party executives when their government is in power and they even become vulnerable when we lose power,” he said.

As a strategic anchor to the general secretary, he also intends to ensure the effective coordination of party activities in order to bridge the internal communication gap between party executive and grassroot members.

He advised delegates to elect leaders with fresh zeal and ideas in moving the party forward to win the 2020 election.

“Some inertia has set in. Let’s overcome this inertia by introducing prompt way of doing things,” he added.

Political profile

Mr Kale, who has been a member of the NDC since 1992, was a Tabiasi Branch Secretary from 1995 to 1997; the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) executive member for the University of Education Winneba, Kumasi Campus, from 1998 to 2001 and the TEIN President of the Upper West Region from 2001 to 2004.

He also held the position of the NDC Regional Secretary for the Upper West Region from 2005 to 2009, worked as a presidential staffer at the Office of the President from 2013 to 2017 and is a former deputy regional minister of the Upper West Region from 2009 to 2013.
