Mr. Bernard Allotey Jacobs has declared his intention to seek re-election as the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' morning show on Wednesday, Mr Jacobs said he cannot sit down for “pampers wearing babies” to take over the party so he has been motivated to seek re-election.
According to him, reports suggesting he embezzled some funds meant for campaign during Election 2016 have been fabricated to tarnish his image and that if some people wanted to engage in “mafia” to undermine him, he was ready to face them.
According to him, he was tired of the ‘mafia’ going on in the party and that he will contest to stop the “nonsense”.
Mr Jacobs said his attention was drawn to the spurious allegations by a leading member of the party recently and insisted no such amount was handed over to him for "distribution" and added that he even sponsored T-shirts from his personal resources.
According to him, there are some people in the party and at the NDC national headquarters, who are simply bent on trying to malign him and undermine his authority.
I met an NDC executive and he accused me of spending Ghc2billion that I was supposed to share with other members of the party
“I am a wounded lion; I’m very bitter because of the unfair treatment from the NDC headquarters; undermining my chairmanship in the Central Region. Nobody gave me a pesewa; not even one T-shirt,” he said.
He said the allegations have urged him to come again to contest and that, “as for the pampers wearing babies; we will deal with them at the appropriate time.”
