Akufo-Addo ends Ashanti tour. Moves to Volta today

The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Saturday, October 22, 2016, ended his four-day tour of the Ashanti Region, with a clarion call on residents to rally behind him and vote massively for him and the 47 NPP parliamentary candidates in the region in this year’s elections.

Addressing artisans, carpenters and business owners at the Sokoban Wood Village in the Nhyiaeso Constituency, his last port of call on the regional tour, the NPP flag bearer noted that against a backdrop of an economy in tatters, declining growth  in manufacturing, record levels of youth unemployment, rising cost of living, widespread corruption and a collapsed NHIS, Ghanaians should show President Mahama the exit on December 7.

“This year’s election is about Ghana’s future; it is an election we cannot afford to joke with. Kumasi, Asanteman and Ghanaians should vote massively for the NPP and send a strong signal that Ghanaians are ready and determined to change their circumstances of living,” he said.

Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that the NPP had fashioned out thought-through policies, including rapid industrialisation of the Ghanaian economy, the ‘1-District-1-Factory’ policy, the ‘1-Village-1-Dam’ policy, diversification of the country’s agriculture, effective implementation of the free SHS policy, the setting up of an Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), among others.

These policies, he stressed, would return Ghana onto the path of progress and prosperity.

Speaking specifically to the artisans and business owners at the Sokoban Wood Village, the NPP flag bearer assured them: “We are coming to complete the second phase of the wood village project. President Kufuor began this project and I am coming to complete it.”

He further assured them that issues concerning the poor road network within the village, as well as the unstable nature of electricity supply which was hampering smooth operations there, would be addressed when he “win this year’s elections.

“Just as Suame Magazine has become the artisanal/industrial hub of the Ashanti Region and Ghana, my government will make sure that Sokoban becomes the hub of all issues relating to wood and its end products. All public contracts relating to the purchasing or manufacturing of wood-related products will be done right here in Sokoban,” he stressed.

He said under President Mahama, “Ghana has become too miserable. We are on a rich land, with all the natural resources at our disposal, and yet we are poor”.

Campaign in Volta Region

The NPP flag bearer will, from Monday, October 24, begin a five-day tour of the Volta Region.

It is the second time this year that he is touring the region where the NPP has set an agenda of capturing at least three parliamentary seats and 30 per cent of the popular vote.

Nana Akufo-Addo will visit 15 constituencies, including South Dayi, Kpando, Krachi East, Nkwanta North, Hohoe, Ho Central, North Tongu, among others.
