Sefa Kayi's Kokrokoo Charities donates incubators to Tamale hospital

The Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, founded by broadcaster, Kwami Sefa Kayi has provided the neonatal intensive care unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) with two incubators estimated at the cost of $20,000.

This is to help reduce neo-natal deaths among babies born pre-term at the facility.

This brings to three the total number of incubators donated by the foundation to the Tamale Teaching Hospital. The first one was in 2016.

The gesture forms part of a campaign launched by Sefa Kayi titled “Project 100 incubators“ in 2015.

He used his radio platform on Accra based Peace FM to solicit for funds to purchase the incubators.

The aim is to help equip neonatal intensive care units of health facilities across the country with incubators.

As of now, a total of 30 incubators have been donated to various health facilities across Ghana since the launch of the campaign, according to Sefa Kayi.

Handing-over

Whilst handing over the incubators on Thursday, Mr Sefa Kayi said the plan was to raise funds to purchase a total of 100 incubators.

The initiative, he said was a way of giving back to society by bringing smiles and joy to mothers of pre-term babies.

The Chief Executive Officer of the TTH, Dr. David Kolbilla thanked the donors for the gesture.

Other hospitals which have received a similar gesture from the foundation are the Nadowli District Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital at Jirapa in Upper West Region, Bolgatanga Government Hospital and the Bongo District Hospital.
